This nice looking rare Canadian clock has a great very heavy double fusee imported English movment. The case is flame mahoghany on walnut with the typical fluted brass window of the early to mid 1800s clocks. The face is all original and bears only the word Quebec. There are no marks on the movement or plate other than clock repair ones. The lettering style of the word Quebec looks just the same as that shown in the Early Canadian Timekeepers reference of the dial of a Wm. Baxter clock of the same period. Baxter was born and trained in Scotland and came to Quebec City around 1840. He was in business there until 1880. The movement and pendulum are original and have been completely overhauled and restored to great working condition. It strikes the hours out very loudly on a large nickle silver bell. Key included but is not original. It measures 17 inches by 6.5 inches by 30 inches high.
